Legacies of Identity: Public Talk

Melkweg Expo - Amsterdam

As part of the Legacies of Identity exhibition at Melkweg Expo, Pride Photo and Melkweg present a special Legacies of Identity: Public Talk with artist, curator, and editor Mohamad Abdouni.

Abdouni is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of COLD CUTS, a groundbreaking photo journal that documents queer cultures across the SWANA region. Based between Beirut and Istanbul, he works across photography, film, and storytelling to explore the lives and legacies of queer communities in contexts shaped by colonial histories.

During this intimate session, Abdouni will speak about his latest project, Trans Histories from Beirut’s Forgotten Pasts, which highlights stories of trans individuals erased from official histories. He will also reflect more broadly on the role of queer image-making in regions where legal and cultural structures have long shaped representation and identity.

This is a unique opportunity to engage directly with an artist whose work reclaims overlooked narratives and reimagines how queer lives are seen and remembered.

Whether you’re a photographer, student, researcher, or simply interested in queer culture and visual storytelling, we welcome your participation.
