Tamta Gokadze

Biography

Tamta Gokadze (she/her, b. 1987) is a documentary photographer from Georgia, currently based in Slovakia. Her practice acts as an exploration of societal narratives, vanishing traditions, and vulnerable groups. Specializing in documentary and social reportage, she delves into the fabric of underrepresented communities. 

Currently, Tamta’s work centres on the resilience of communities residing along Georgia’s borders and administrative borderlines, as well as stories highlighting the urgency of LGBTQIA+ and women’s rights and safety. She is also developing a long-term project that delves into the enigmatic legacy of Stalin in Georgia.

Tamta’s dedication has garnered recognition, including a Bronze Star Award at the ‘ND Awards; for her captivating visual storytelling, and an Award of Excellence in ‘Domestic Picture Story’ at the ‘College Photography of the Year Competition.’
