Ohm Phanphiroj

Biography

Ohm Phanphiroj (he/him) is a Thai-American artist renowned for his provocative work as a photographer, filmmaker, and educator. His art delves into themes such as sexuality, identity, gender roles, and human connection.

To date, Ohm has participated in exhibitions both in the USA and internationally, and has received multiple awards, including the Sony World Photography Award, Society for Photographic Education Innovation Award, Art Institute of Chicago’s Film Fellowship, Syracuse University’s Lightwork Fellowship, Columbia College Chicago’s Residency Award, and the Newspace Center for Photography. His work has been showcased at the Iran Biennale (2016), Moscow Biennale (2014), and the Noorderlicht Photo Festival (2012). Ohm is represented by Anzenberger Gallery, Austria. 
Ohm lectures at various institutes such as the Rochester Institute of Technology, Washington State University,  Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia State University, Chicago State University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Memphis State University, among others  Currently, Ohm is a Professor of Photography at the Edna Manley School for Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica.
