Danilo Zocatelli Cesco

Biography

Danilo Zocatelli Cesco (b. 1989) is a Brazilian artist based in the UK. His work is driven by people’s stories, queer identity, family relationships, ecology and performance, using photography as a tool for encounter and collaboration.

Working across analogue and cameraless photography, video, sound and installation, he develops long-term projects that begin with personal experience and unfold through exchanges with others. His practice has engaged with subjects such as life inside a women’s prison, underground BDSM communities, hate crime, chosen families and his ongoing collaboration with his father.

After leaving Brazil in 2012, questions of distance, belonging and reconnection became central to his research. Recent works move between the UK and Brazil, exploring queer ecological perspectives and the relationship between body and landscape.

With a background in gastronomy, his approach is rooted in process, material experimentation and transformation. Alongside exhibitions and publications, he leads workshops and participatory projects that expand photography into a social and pedagogical space.
